Job Description

Membership organisation in the creative industries requires a Finance Officer to be responsible for the Management Accounts, all payments and receipts, reconciliation and Financial Reporting.  The successful candidate will also play a key role in planning and budgeting for the organisation’s activities and will manage the Cashflow, its reporting and projection.

Reporting to the Executive Director you will also work with the marketing, administration and membership members of the team.


  • Overall responsibility for financial accounting, management accounting and internal control systems for the AOP
  • You will support the organisation in developing its financial strategy, its ability to report management information, analyze and report risk
  • You will prepare monthly and annual management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cashflow projections
  • You will be responsible for the accounting system (SAGE Line 50)
  • Maintain overall responsibility for the computerised accounting systems, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, cash book, payroll system, nominal ledger and balance sheet
  • Preparation of other financial information and reports
  • With the Executive Director and Finance Committee, produce the annual budget
  • General Cash Flow management
  • VAT – calculate, prepare returns and liaise with HMRC
  • PAYE and all dealings with Inland Revenue
  • Checking and approving subscription invoices
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of all bank accounts
  • Experience of funds received via various online payments
  • Prepare accounts to trial balance
  • Liaise with Auditor and deal with questions



  • Confident using Sage 50 Payroll and Accounts, experience of EC Sales, VAT, PAYE, Prepayments, Accruals, Excel and Sage 50 integration
  • Preparing accounts up to Trial Balance
  • Membership processing via CRM
  • Been responsible for integrity of data and chasing, reconciling Aged Debtors in Sage and CRM, processing refunds
  • Producing and sending monthly statements as well as being responsible for all finance related inquiries internally and externally
  • Some knowledge of HR requirements within small teams
